Solid glass beads with a diameter of less than 0.8mm and a refractive index of 1.9-2.1 are high refractive index glass beads. Their reflectivity is about three times higher than that of ordinary glass beads. They can be seen far away when mixed with paint as road signs and are also very bright in foggy days. Those with refractive index greater than or equal to 2.2 are ultra-high refractive glass beads. Due to the high refractive index, the outline of road signs can be seen at 800-1000m, and the brightness of reflected light is very high. Road signs can also be seen clearly at 300m away, which is suitable for traffic signs of expressway. The above high refraction and ultra-high refraction glass beads are bonded with textiles to make clothes, shoes and hats, traffic police uniforms and sleeves for the blind. They shine under the light at night to reduce traffic accidents.

Glass beads coated with a layer of hydrophobic film on the surface increase chemical stability and water resistance. After spraying and heating treatment, a layer of silicon oxide film is formed on the surface for traffic signs with high environmental humidity and long-term invasion of wind and rain
