Types of Handmade Glass Figurines

Glass has a long and legendary history in the world.

According to its glass material and production process, it is divided into the following two types.

Hard Glass Figurines: it is made from glass rods and shaped with a blow torch. The glass is Borosilicate glass, the strongest and most durable glass. Hard Glass Figurines are all hand made in small size, but crystal and no lead content.

Soft Glass Figurines: it is also called Blown glass figurine, that is made from soft glass and all hand made as well. When making a soft glass figurine, there are more colors that can be chosen, but more difficult to work with. The glass blowers use a blowpipe to make a bubble in the heated glass, then use various tools with different shape, such as circular and flat, etc, to help to create a beautiful work of art. The glass is controlled by air from the blowpipe and tools by blowers, and added colors slowly. When soft glass figurines are finished, it must cool down very very slowly with a gradual temperature drop, otherwise, it will explode.

Now Glass art can be found everywhere, including functions, decorative and high art grade. But no matter what level, all works requires a lot of practice.
